Let me start by telling you about this wonderful family I have had the opportunity to work with. The Parker's relocated from Sandy Hook Connecticut to their new home in Washington. Robbie and Alissa had lost their oldest daughter in the Sandy Hook shooting. I have followed Alissa Parker's blog for some time now and found her a genuine and gracious person. I read about the struggles Alissa and her family faced moving to this new home and knew I had to find a way to display their special pieces of memory of their sweet daughter Emilie. If you get the chance you should check out Alissa's blog.
They bought a home that needed some TLC and updating for sure. But I knew we could breath new life into this outdated home. I knew this was going to be a long process for them. Basically stripped their home down to the bare bones. Decorating your entire home can be very overwhelming. We’ve all been there. You start working on your home and you’re overflowing with ideas. And one day, you realize you’re out of steam. Whether you’ve hit a challenge you can’t solve, you have no idea how to use a space, or you’re just tired of thinking about it. I was more then happy to go in and help solve some of these problems the Parker's were having.
I prefer adding unique pieces that you can not pick up at any ol' store. Mixing old and new is my favorite ways to decorate. Not only will your antique pieces stand out, your new find will last longer. They do not make furniture like that anymore. Now a days it seems everything is cheap plywood.
The Parker's loved the idea of using antiques in their home. Off Craiglist I found a antique buffet and desk. I was thrilled they were willing to paint and stain the antique pieces. They did a fantastic job!
I want to share these pictures with you. My friend Teryn Rae is a local photographer. I have to say she is absolutely amazing. I love her work!! I am using her to take photos for my portfolio.
If you guys get the chance go check out her beautiful work!!
